Cincinnati Field Trip

Trip Itinerary and Basic Information:

We will be touring the Contemporary Arts Center's new exhibit, "Somewhere Better Than This Place:  Alternative Social Experience in the Spaces of Contemporary Art," as well as their "Un Museum".   The Contemporary Arts Center is located at 44 East 6th Street in downtown Cincinanti. 

We will be leaving at 9:00 AM SHARP on Friday, September 26 from in front of the Art Building.  Please arrive at 8:30 so that we can load the vans and check roll.  It is advisable for you to either have breakfast before coming or to bring a snack with you, as we won't be stopping until we reach the Arts Center and we will tour the Center BEFORE lunch.  Our expected arrival at the Center is 11:00 AM.    You will need lunch money or a sack lunch and $3.50 for entry fee into the Arts Center.  Remember, also, that you will be completing an assignment in conjunction with this trip, so you may want to take a small notebook/journal for noting your observations.  There will probably be time to visit other galleries in the area.  The Center has suggested the following:  the Linda Schwartz Gallery and the Weston Gallery, which is part of the Aronoff Center opposite of the center.

We will re-group to leave for Morehead at 2:30, with departure at 3:00, and we should reach Morehead by 5:00 PM.  


Directions:

From Morehead, take Highway 32 to Maysville.  Take the AA Highway to the Alexandria/Cold Spring Exit.  Get on 471 to Cincinnati.  Cross the bridge.  Take the 6th Street Exit, and take 6th Street to Walnut St.  Turn right onto Walnut (it is a one-way street), and then turn right again onto Vine Street.  There is an inexpensive parking garage half-way down the block.  It is a short walk to the Contemporary Arts Center.  If you get lost, the Center's phone number is :  (513) 345-8400.  The Center is open on Fridays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
